Insurance and deposit

Insurance, excess and security deposit: what is covered

This is the most confusing part of any rental, and the one we would rather clarify before you book than at the counter. Here is exactly what the rate includes, and what remains your responsibility.

What the insurance covers

Every rental includes basic comprehensive insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance. Collision and theft are covered, subject to the terms of the contract. The car is insured for the period stated on the contract: any extension must be agreed in writing before expiry.

What remains your responsibility

Not covered: tyres, broken glass, front and rear lights, and towing costs. The insurance also excludes damage to interior parts, bumpers and paintwork, and the loss of equipment such as keys, the spare wheel or the vehicle documents.

The excess in case of an accident

In an at-fault accident, an excess equal to 5% of the vehicle's value remains payable. If a duly completed accident report establishes third-party liability, no excess applies: give it to us within three days of the accident.

The security deposit

A deposit is taken at key handover and returned once the car is back and checked. The amount depends on the category and is given to you when your booking is confirmed — never discovered on arrival.

Fuel and mileage

The car is delivered with a full tank and must be returned the same way: the simplest rule, with no refuelling charge. Each day includes 300 km; beyond that, every extra kilometre is charged at 200 millimes. Over three days you therefore have 900 km.

Parking and theft

Outside hours of use, and particularly at night, the car must be closed and locked in a guarded area or a garage. This is a condition of the theft cover.

Choosing well

Which car for your stay in Sousse?

The right choice depends less on budget than on your plans. Here is how our customers usually decide, based on what they intend to do.

City stay, beach and Port El Kantaoui

A city car is plenty: Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Seat Ibiza or Citroën C3, from 95 TND a day. Easy to park in the busy streets around the medina, economical, air-conditioned. This is what most of our beach-holiday customers choose.

Day trips to Monastir, El Jem or Kairouan

A city car still works, but a crossover brings real comfort on journeys of an hour or more: Seat Arona or Volkswagen T-Cross, from 150 TND a day, with a higher driving position and a larger boot.

Family with children and luggage

Go for an SUV: Škoda Kushaq or Mahindra XUV 3XO. Five comfortable seats, four suitcases, automatic gearbox and higher ground clearance, useful on the Sahel's secondary roads.

Business travel

The T-Cross and the Kushaq are automatics, which helps in local traffic. For a stay of several weeks or a replacement vehicle, our long-term contracts offer degressive rates and invoicing with VAT and fiscal stamp.

Automatic gearbox: book early

Automatics go quickly, especially from June to August. If that matters to you, book two months ahead — the only way to guarantee availability in high season.

Before you book

The informed customer's checklist

Ten minutes of checking avoids arguments on return. These points apply to any agency, including ours — we would rather you compared with full knowledge.

Total cost, not the daily rate

Add up the full duration, any delivery or night supplements, and the extras. A low daily rate can hide booking fees, out-of-hours return charges or minimal insurance. With us, the amount shown at booking is the amount you pay.

Exact place and time

Check the pick-up and drop-off address and the opening hours. Out-of-hours returns are charged by most companies. Give your flight number if you are arriving by air: we track the actual schedule, at no cost in case of delay.

Insurance terms and excess

Ask for the exact excess, the list of exclusions and the procedure in case of an accident, however minor. Have the authorised drivers confirmed in writing.

The security deposit

Amount, accepted payment method and release time. This is often the first source of disagreement on return.

The condition report at departure

Photograph the car from every angle before setting off, including wheels and windscreen. Check that existing scratches are noted on the contract, along with the spare wheel and working air conditioning.

Documents required

A valid driving licence held for more than a year, ID card or passport, and a minimum age of 21. Keep the rental contract in the car: it is requested at roadside checks.

Worth a detour

What to visit from Sousse by car

Sousse is an excellent base for exploring the Sahel. With a car and 300 km included per day, most of these destinations can be visited in a day, with no timetable to follow.

Port El Kantaoui — 10 km, 15 minutes

The marina and its quayside restaurants, minutes from the centre. Easy free parking, perfect for an evening outing. It is also the departure point for boat trips.

Monastir and its ribat — 25 km, 30 minutes

The 8th-century ribat, the Bourguiba mausoleum and the marina make a half-day visit. The coastal road via Skanès is more pleasant than the expressway, allow ten minutes more.

El Jem amphitheatre — 65 km, 50 minutes

One of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Go in the morning to avoid the heat, and visit the adjoining archaeological museum.

Kairouan, the holy city — 60 km, 1 hour

The Great Mosque, the Aghlabid basins and the medina deserve a full day. Modest dress is recommended for places of worship.

Mahdia and its beaches — 45 km, 40 minutes

Cape Africa, the fortified medina and long beaches, quieter than those of Sousse. A good alternative if you are looking for calm.

Where we are

Car rental in Sahloul, at the heart of Sousse

Our agency is on Rue Mongi Grira, in the Sahloul district. It is the starting point for all our deliveries, and where you collect your car if you prefer to come in person.

Collect your car on site

You can come straight to the agency on Rue Mongi Grira in Sahloul. Easy parking outside, formalities in ten minutes, and off you go. The simplest option if you live or work nearby.

Delivery to neighbouring districts

From Sahloul we deliver free of charge to Sousse city centre, Khezama, Sousse Riadh, Hammam Sousse, Port El Kantaoui and Chott Meriem. Allow ten to twenty minutes depending on the district, at the time of your choice, seven days a week.

Businesses and clinics in Sahloul

We work with several organisations in the district on long-term rentals and replacement vehicles. Invoicing with VAT and fiscal stamp, monthly contract, a dedicated contact and a courtesy car if yours is off the road.
